House UPDATE ~ Chronicles of a bungled Real Estate deal ~ Stairway ~ Part 5B

As I sat down to start the binding on this quilt it started snowing yet again!!

After hubby finished painting yesterday, he took the time to hang the quilt hangers and get the red, white and blue hung yesterday. It was by far the worst to hang with the turn in the stairway!
I love seeing these as you walk up and down the stairs. The red, white and blue was my very first quilt I made while hubby was deployed in 2004. The tropical colored one has a “twin” out there that I made for my cousin Jenn over at What I Did at School today for her birthday a few years ago.

It seems like we’ve been working on this project for months, but it’s really only been a few days. Tomorrow we’ll pick up the gloss trim paint and the textured floor paint for the stairs and then maybe we’ll yet finish this project this upcoming week.

Shhhhhhhhhh this is my secret project for Hubby ~ anARMY quilt

Shhhhhhhhhhhh this is my secret Christmas gift roject for Hubby – his ARMY quilt.

I’ve had the pieces cut since before his last deployment in 2003. I thought for sure with the horrendous time we had during that deployment, the surgery after it, the major retirement from the ARMY and the red tape to go with it and the cross country move that this quilt was destined to become a UFO (unfinished fabric object), but alas I still have 3 days until Christmas and think I’ll actually make it in time.

I love this pattern. It’s called Yellow Brick Road by Atkinson. It goes together quickly and offers a lot of variation and is very forgiving.

The squares are done. Now for some sashing, borders and backing. Wish me luck.

Quilt Progress Report

I started these quilts for Katie and Lulu pre-deployment, pre-major cross country move and pre-major house problems. Part of taking back my life is getting back to the people and things that are important to me. I’ve designated Sundays, at least to start, at recovering and completing these projects. As time moves on I hope to not have to designate a specific day! Anyway for today I completed the squares for Katie and Lulu’s wall quilts (long overdue – so sorry guys, I never should have let ANYTHING get in the way). Tomorrow I’m picking up the batting and backing so I can complete these next Sunday.

Another completed project!

I had started this as a birthday gift for my friend Dana a while back and was finally able to finish it while Amber was here working on her quilt. I find it amazing how similar the colors are that Amber picked to these in this wall hanging.

QUILT CAMP UPDATE – Getting even Closer

I told Am she wasn’t the first.
Every good quilter has had to rip out a seam or two or three and start over!

Hard at work!

Rows 4, 5, 6 and 7 are all done!
She’s working really hard today! I love her dedication and drive to finish.
